HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Is something nobody says, for the very simple reason that at the stroke of midnight, most people's mouths are abruptly occupied. Anyone within earshot of the bells is drawn to the person nearest them, whether they're familiar or a stranger, and regardless of their intentions, those two people are lip-locked now.

Of course, you can choose to be chaste about this, if you really want. But on the other hand, it's gonna be a long kiss if you're not even trying to enjoy it - the enchantment, whatever it is, lasts until the clock strikes one. That doesn't mean you have to kiss that whole time, but neither of you can break physical contact with the other - some parts of your body always have to be in contact.

Might as well start the year as you mean to go on, right?

A Little Winter Atmosphere

[Winter arrives slower than usual, thanks to the Snow Queen's mid-year horny spell giving her a bit more time before her libido kicked back in. But now she is returning to the fullness of need. And that's where winter comes from.]

[This time, the Kingdom is better prepared to engage in the usual yearly orgasm denial of a goddess. Winter clothes are easier to come by, and every public hearth has some hot something-or-other simmering away. There's a coziness and comfort as farmers retire for the winter, and herds provided all the oats and meal they need, but that doesn't stop them from rooting through the snow for withering crispy treats.]

[Not that Guards are allowed to actually wear clothes or take full advantage of that cozy warmth, heavens no. Not everything is about sex even under the Mistress' reign. Sometimes, it is about Control. She figures everyone should suffer some nipple chafing and shrinkage as a character building exercise, so they get to have some extra shifts outside.]

[The native guards will take to using the snow to prank the Apprentices in as many ways as they can dream up: anything from convoluted plans to hide extremely fresh soft snow in your entire wardrobe, to the more direct approach of "one gets you in a lock while the other dumps snow down the back of your clothes." The off-worlder guards are encouraged to join in the bullying, at least in passing. They won't actually be targeted with snow, though. Call it a token of respect, perhaps.]

[Hey Outliers, having fun out there in the snow being poor? Haha, suckers. But hey, maybe you can make some money running errands, or performing services out in the cold? Or even... "services." At least you probably won't freeze to death. The townsfolk will generally keep an eye on you, unless you're an unpleasant jerk. Then have fun being dead, nerd.]

It began outside the city, at nightfall... as these things usually do. The afflicted succumbed to the virus, and began to move from farm house to farm house, gathering strength in numbers. Moving toward larger population centers, craving to spread itself further and further and further…

News only barely manages to outpace the lumbering horde. Locals shout in panicked tones about ‘the sluts’ and begin running for shelter. Some opt to take their chances at home; others run toward the castle, hoping to seek sanctuary with the Mistress. Those with a cooler head on their shoulders do their best to convince you to hide somewhere until dawn.

What do you do?

HIDE IN THE VILLAGE + HIDE IN THE CASTLE + CONFRONT THE HORDE

[OOC: IF YOU ARE AFFLICTED... The slut virus is non-fatal and temporary; it will affect your character until they've completely exhausted themselves. You also still have awareness of all your behavior afterward and can even try to fight it off, but it's very strong and inevitably you will Slut Out. If it's any comfort, your character will find a lot of NPCs affected by it claiming they don't remember anything, giving you an equal out. It's too embarrassing, even to Oglafers.]

[ As the sun rises at the start of the month, a forest of colorful tents arises outside the city gates. It is not an enemy encampment, though, unless you hate fun. Then yes, it is an enemy encampment. Fun is assaulting the Kingdom in full force, as Harvest Faire fever sweeps across the nation. ]

[ You may join crowds of eager people on the initial days, or wait until the mania has died down to a more casual flow—but either way, there’s a lot to see and do at the faire. It all has to do with people trying to sell you on their religions by showing you their October Best in holidays, but the people of the Kingdom know that if they’re boring or too hard with their sales, no one will come back. So expect a fun, full immersion experience into this or that cult! Food, beverage, and substances will be provided, along with any props you may need to participate. ]

[ Or, I guess, find opportunities to get paid to be a carny, if money is more your speed than fun. ]

[ Cults are on a rotating schedule, so they won’t be the same every day, but eager acolytes will be glad to tell you when they’ll be back in the tent again, so you’ll be welcome to come back again. Maybe even bring a friend along with you? They’re often all smiles on the advertising side, no matter how macabre or dark their faith may be. ]

September Event: Creature Feature

And now, for something a little different.

The town crier, now a centaur, had a bit of fascinating news for all those who would gather round to hear him. And you will gather round, because he seems to be one of the only ones who knows what’s going on. Some moments after you drank water this day, you may have noticed a sudden shift in body parts. Perhaps you have horse legs, or wings, or a horse tail, or extra eyes, maybe too few eyes, or perhaps hooves— A lot of creatures are part horse, aren’t they?

The town crier does his duty and tells you the tale. As it happens, a wizard of local dubious renown was seen fleeing the town early this morning. Long time locals knew this to be a sign of terribleness to come. At the scene of the crime was a discarded bucket with a sludgey residue inside. This was initially nothing that caused alarm. There were many buckets of sludge around town. Yet when the investigations began, the Mistress quickly deduced that the sludge was a horrific transmogrification potion.

She has called all suspicious persons to her castle for questioning. Ordinarily, she would allow this to slide. If the people of her town want to make one another miserable, then they are at liberty to do so. But, this was personal.

Your much beloved Mistress was looking rather more furry than usual. From head-to-toe she was covered in long, silky, fur— much befitting for the most beautiful yeti in all the land.

Will you answer her call? Are you stuck in some predicament that does not allow you to attend? Or have you lost your legs entirely?

Periodically throughout the month, you will find yourself accosted by guards who inform you that the Mistress has picked you, specifically you, to do some cleaning. The castle is big, and other than the rooms that have been locked and rendered off-limits, you’re going to help clean every last bit of it.

Sometimes, the chore may be pleasant enough—maybe you’ll be sorting and reshelving books, or doing a little bit of sweeping. Other times? Well, have fun scraping out the gunk between the cobbles with a stick.

However, there will be one special time mid-month where all the apprentices will be not allowed to leave first thing in the morning. Instead, after they’ve eaten, they’ll be taken down into the cellars. The cellars are a catacomb of stone storage rooms, some magically chilled and others simply basement-room temperature. They’re lined with shelves, jars, and other storage methods, all filled to the brim with ingredients and various drinks, both alcoholic and not. While the ones with the freshest ingredients are kept as spotless as you can hope for in a fantasy setting, many of the others—especially the furthest ones—are much worse off. While nothing is off-puttingly bad, it sure hasn’t seen a good cleaning in a while.

You are given proper cleaning supplies, and told to get to work.

Of course, under some of those shelves and corners are lurking the spores of a certain mold, when inhaled, will make you start feeling… pleasant. Your thoughts will begin to slowly reel and your thinking will alter, and you’ll relax. If you’ve ever been high on certain herbs before, you’ll recognize that’s what it is. It creeps in slowly. The longer you’re in the mold-infested rooms, the higher you’ll get.

There are no adverse effects to long-term exposure—but you’ll fall asleep and some hapless guard will be in to retrieve you.

Every hour or so, the guards will check in on you. Once everything is clean enough, they’ll let you leave.

GUARD MINGLE

In the castle's training yard, a lieutenant of the guard lines up all the new recruits—meaning those who have arrived in the past few months, as well as a number of tall and strong women recruited from the kingdom itself.

The guard paces along them as she begins her speech. "I don't care what kind of self-styled champion or athlete you think you are. If you can't prove it to me, then you can't prove your worthiness to wear the Mistress. You want to keep your weapons? Your powers? Your enviable uniforms? Prove you deserve them.

"The Mistress is cruel and sadistic, yes, but fair to those she deems worthy. And some of you-" she focuses in on certain people, "-are standing on much shakier ground than the rest.

With that, she stops directly in front of them, gesturing emphatically to the assembled group.

"For the next month, I will whip you into shape. Literally, if I need to. You are going to sweat your weakness and insubordination out, or collapse trying."

And with that, training begins. Over the course of the month, under her intense attention, she subjects the guards to training sessions. Group calisthenics, laps around the castle, strength training, drills, sparring with practice weapons... and, once a week, the obstacle course.

What are the obstacles? You will crawl through mud, under brambles, climb over walls, maintain your balance on a tightrope, push barriers out of the way, and finally, a quick swim to victory.

All guards are expected to be in full uniform (though you're given leave to take the helm off). Stopping to adjust your outfit earns you a reprimand. Keep doing it, and you'll have to do more laps or whatever else she deems is good punishment.

And yes, people are watching from above. Sometimes with vague disinterest, sometimes with... far greater intensity.

THE MISTRESS' FEAST

With the return of the winner of the Fuckfest, the Mistress has formally announced an important and exclusive feast--and decreed that all of her extra-dimensional pets (that means you) are to attend. This news is delivered by the guards, both native to this world and otherwise, who are also tasked with distributing butt-plugs that have the words "Congratulations on not dying of exposure" engraved in their bases.

If you try not to attend, you will be forced into it anyway. It is compulsory on pain of death. Sorry. However, upon being escorted/invited into the great hall of the castle, you are welcomed by a fantastic and bustling scene. Music plays, performers dance, and the smell of food hangs in the air as platters are carried around by servants who take the time to offer portions to each guest. Not to mention the wine! The ambassadors and other guests in attendance are in varying states of undress, but no one is completely naked—and at least those who come close are not sitting on top of the table or anything. There is almost a sense of decorum to this particular event.

At the very head of the table, clad in an extraordinarily expensive-looking set of BDSM lingerie and her horned crown, sits the Mistress. Flanked by two of her highest ranking guards, she laughs and smirks at the chatter of the ambassadors sitting nearby, paying no attention to anyone else except those who have already earned her good graces.

Regardless of your job, you will all be seated all together at the very end of the table, furthest away from the Mistress. Yenh, the fuckfest winner, gets the honor of being at the end, but there’s a lot flowers and statues blocking the view anyway. She's out of earshot for whatever dinner discussions you'd like to have—but her loyal guards, servants, and the less-well-received ambassadors are not.

Once the feasting winds down, the Mistress rises and climbs the steps to the throne at the end of the room. She settles in and only now lays her eyes upon the Kingdom's special arrivals.

"Come and claim your rewards. Don't be shy."

She turns her gaze toward Estinien, the sole person who did not participate in the Fuckfest while it was ongoing, and grins. "You, too."

Once the dinner is over, nothing stops you from milling about to socialize, get caught up in an ambassador's after-dinner sex party, or to just leave with your shiny new prizes.

MINGLE: Suddenly Summer!

Early in the evening, the cold winds come to an abrupt end. The falling snow turns to warm summer rains. The temperature, quite alarmingly, raises forty degrees within an hour. The Snow Queen has been placated, it seems. The people of the village tear off their summer wools and clamor in the streets. Shouts of “Festival?” “A Festival!” ring out as villagers pull out tents and start fires for cooking.

You may be tempted to abandon your duties, chores, or possibly whatever strange hobby you have taken up to join them. You may even be forgiven for such indiscretion. The tavern rolls its barrels outdoors, promising a free drink for each bare leg you show off.

There’s rumor that the Mistress will hold a proper ceremony once the hero returns.
