If asked, he might even try to take credit for it and say he growled like that on purpose, but he would be lying for the sake of bravado. The sounds he makes are all just the natural reactions to his pleasure, growls and other doglike sounds included. He's just lucky it's never really turned a partner off or make them question him.

Even so, he's so careful when it comes to Remus. Gentleness is key, and even his teeth never push too hard. He tries to memorize where the scars are that hurt him, so he can avoid those and leave only light kisses there.

Remus draws a low sound of approval from Sirius, and he grazes his lips up across Remus' jaw until he can see his face. "Yeah. Like, all the time." Like any time Remus isn't right in front of him.
