Simon's default state is to be gently on the defensive, particularly when he feels like he's doing something weird or questionable and particularly when the person he's talking to is kind of really cute. Not that it matters, he just wants to be liked.

"It isn't silly at all. I think it's very hard, to be taken from everything you know and be expected to make a choice- but I think. If you changed your mind? I don't think they would stop you."
