The Harvest Faire: October Catch-All!
[ As the sun rises at the start of the month, a forest of colorful tents arises outside the city gates. It is not an enemy encampment, though, unless you hate fun. Then yes, it is an enemy encampment. Fun is assaulting the Kingdom in full force, as Harvest Faire fever sweeps across the nation. ]
[ You may join crowds of eager people on the initial days, or wait until the mania has died down to a more casual flow—but either way, there’s a lot to see and do at the faire. It all has to do with people trying to sell you on their religions by showing you their October Best in holidays, but the people of the Kingdom know that if they’re boring or too hard with their sales, no one will come back. So expect a fun, full immersion experience into this or that cult! Food, beverage, and substances will be provided, along with any props you may need to participate. ]
[ Or, I guess, find opportunities to get paid to be a carny, if money is more your speed than fun. ]
[ Cults are on a rotating schedule, so they won’t be the same every day, but eager acolytes will be glad to tell you when they’ll be back in the tent again, so you’ll be welcome to come back again. Maybe even bring a friend along with you? They’re often all smiles on the advertising side, no matter how macabre or dark their faith may be. ]
[ And hey, look, on some days, there’s empty tents... ]

OTA harvest and Halloween
Egon considers himself a helpful and hard working man at the best of times. If someone needs help, he can learn about the culture and this fair specifically by doing that. The doctor will hear the call for a helper and show right up, in something good for working in, and probably a little sexy because that's what he can get his hands on.
"You needed help moving your crop?" He approaches the farmer, looking fine and happy and not like he just wants fresh vegetables and information.
Halloween for everyone
It's october, and he absolutely can't believe that they don't have Halloween. Egon takes a tent as soon as he can, and starts his lecture.
It really is more like a lecture than anything interesting, except there's candy. If you wander in, you have to talk to Egon to get said sweets. He's just chatting away in front of the bowl, a man between you and your sweet reward.
"You see, humans swore that they would remember the worst of the demons, in order to banish them to the other realm-"
[NPC]
"Yeah, I do. Your clothes're pretty new. I take it you're not used to this kinda work?"
no subject
He crosses his arms, shrugging idly. "I needed to get work clothes without blood on them. I can handle heavy lifting."
no subject
"Aren't you one of the people The Mistress brought here? What are you doing to get blood all over your clothes?"
no subject
"I decided I didn't want to live under her directly. I'm working out of my hut as a doctor. I know a lot more about medicine than anyone from this time period."
Halloween
Maybe a kind gent would like to start at the beginning and give his occasional lay a treat...
"Egon!" Aymeric strutted into the tent, dressed as he usually would, but now with a small iron lantern. "You should have told me that you would have a tent."
no subject
But he was quite fond of Aymeric. The former college professor turned his head, pausing and smiling. "I just rented this one for a short lecture. Do you want to listen?"
no subject
The villagers freeze up. Was Egon going to start from the beginning for the benefit of this one guy? One became discouraged, the more hardcore of the sweet lovers stayed.
"So... What do your realms' demons have to do with sweets?"
no subject
"There's not a definite origin, but there are a few things it can be attributed to. More recently candy has been encouraged by companies to up sales during the celebration. It may also be linked to Dia De Los Muertos, the day of the dead where lost loved ones are remembered, but that holiday is really unrelated."
"Halloween is often considered a holiday of excess, as well as a night when children are allowed to face their fears in a humorous and constructive way. This excess extends not only to sweets, but to staying up late and often more illicit themes for adults. The holiday really is more for children though, and they go door-to-door in costumes- as devils, monsters, or lighter things- asking for candy."
