The Harvest Faire: October Catch-All!

[ As the sun rises at the start of the month, a forest of colorful tents arises outside the city gates. It is not an enemy encampment, though, unless you hate fun. Then yes, it is an enemy encampment. Fun is assaulting the Kingdom in full force, as Harvest Faire fever sweeps across the nation. ]

[ You may join crowds of eager people on the initial days, or wait until the mania has died down to a more casual flow—but either way, there’s a lot to see and do at the faire. It all has to do with people trying to sell you on their religions by showing you their October Best in holidays, but the people of the Kingdom know that if they’re boring or too hard with their sales, no one will come back. So expect a fun, full immersion experience into this or that cult! Food, beverage, and substances will be provided, along with any props you may need to participate. ]

[ Or, I guess, find opportunities to get paid to be a carny, if money is more your speed than fun. ]

[ Cults are on a rotating schedule, so they won’t be the same every day, but eager acolytes will be glad to tell you when they’ll be back in the tent again, so you’ll be welcome to come back again. Maybe even bring a friend along with you? They’re often all smiles on the advertising side, no matter how macabre or dark their faith may be. ]

[ And hey, look, on some days, there’s empty tents... ]

[Yenh smiles, imagining that Estinien would be halfway out the door the moment Aymeric finished giving voice to the thought.]

Much as I would enjoy an outing with all your attentions, it is almost without saying that Estinien should accompany us. Alphinaud, too!

The Mistress punishes me by virtue of my existence! I'm consistently dressed like a brothel-boy, I must go to lengths for privacy, and my duties are numbing of the mind and dulling of the senses!

[Whoops. Well, she hadn't meant to set him off, but here we are. The crier is trying to salvage the situation and shout louder about the virtues of the pantysmith's wares to drown out Aymeric's fantasy protagonist lines. Yenh shakes her head rapidly.]

Fugitive! Of what crime? Deserting a post where I guard the Mistress and her... can you call them lovers? They're slaves, aren't they?

[he crosses his arms tight. The reality slowly starts to sink in. He's quiet for a moment.]

Mm... I suppose I should quit formally, if I'm to go off on an adventure.

And that does give us time to actually prepare properly. [Smiling in relief that he won't suddenly complicate their lives even worse, Yenh gestures to the crowd.]

Not to mention that such anger seldom sells smallclothes.

[And, with appropriate levels of shame, she too drops her voice and murmurs.] Yet if you wish to make for the woods after this for a temporary amount of time, I would not say no.

Oh, as if I'm the first lunatic in his smallclothes to walk around vowing to flee my job.

[Despite saying that, he's very aware now of his outburst in combination with his near-nudity. The world begins to refocus and his passion dies down somewhat, he turns to the town crier and shrugs.]

'Twould be for the best for me to finish my work here, at least. My capacity for shame has grown somewhat, I needn't retreat into the woods for this... Is that what you would do, if you were me?

[Yenh grins, looking over at the crier. She nods an apology.]

Aye, 'tis the adventurer's way, then? [He had to admit he felt silly posing sensually. He couldn't think of a time he had done that in his life. Peacocking, sure. But that had dignity attached. Control. Clothing.]
