THREE... TWO... ONE...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Is something nobody says, for the very simple reason that at the stroke of midnight, most people's mouths are abruptly occupied. Anyone within earshot of the bells is drawn to the person nearest them, whether they're familiar or a stranger, and regardless of their intentions, those two people are lip-locked now.

Of course, you can choose to be chaste about this, if you really want. But on the other hand, it's gonna be a long kiss if you're not even trying to enjoy it - the enchantment, whatever it is, lasts until the clock strikes one. That doesn't mean you have to kiss that whole time, but neither of you can break physical contact with the other - some parts of your body always have to be in contact.

Might as well start the year as you mean to go on, right?

[She looks a little surprised, then laughs, surprising herself with the lightness of it.]

I suppose, as we have naught else to fill our time...

[She slides her hand up his arm, onto his shoulder, and meets his eyes.]

If you would like, then I have no objection. Though getting undressed in this state may not be so easy.

[Remus's shoulders slump in relief, and he laughs, too.]

I figured the same, yeah.

[Her hand is burning a hole in his arm, or at least it feels that way; he shifts as best he can to prop himself up on one elbow.]

We can...figure that out. I've learned that one doesn't need to entirely undress to get things accomplished.

[She has to grant that. She's found the same, although... not always in contexts where she'd intended to.]

[Smiling, she leans in to kiss him again, in full knowledge that she'll probably get stuck. Which, in fact, she does - but that's okay, because her mouth's where she wants it to be right now.]

[After all, their kiss earlier wasn't exactly great. May as well start with one they actually want.]

[This kiss is indeed vastly preferable to the first time. He's expecting it, for one, and he can anticipate it enough to remember to breathe through his nose. Remus sighs deeply, and after only a moment's hesitation, lets his hips press downward into hers, lets Éowyn feel how much he's already responding to being so close to her. So intimate.

Meanwhile, he manages to extricate one hand enough to bring it up and run his fingers through the sides of her hair.]

[Éowyn lets out a little sound against his lips, that might be a gasp or a laugh, as he pushes against her. Her tongue darts out, pressing into his mouth, and she slides a hand over his shoulder, fingers curling against the back of his neck.]

[Whatever that sound may be, Remus likes it an awful lot, if the whimper in response is any indication. His lips part, his tongue swiping against hers with another, lower sound of appreciation.

His hand trails back down to her jaw, then finds her shoulder, skims down her side, and comes to rest on her hip, fingertips creeping underneath her hemline.]

[Éowyn's skin is still cool and damp from the weather outside, and his fingers feel hot pressed against her hip, under the soft leather of her armour. She runs her thumb over the thin skin behind his ear, letting her eyes slip close again as she kisses him.]

[Her other hand has found its way to the fastening of his robes. Being careful not to touch him with it - there'll be time for that, but getting him undressed while both hands are stuck to him would be difficult - she fumbles to undo his clothing, while her tongue runs lightly around the inside of his mouth.]

[She's still getting used to this, to sex for its own sake, and she's happy to take her time. But at the same time... Well, those clothes are just in the way, really, aren't they?]
