It was bound to happen eventually.
Who: Aymeric and Yenh
What: They're gonna bang, probably.
When: Sometime after the Feast.
Where: The castle, then Yenh's shacking-up shack.
Warnings: Sex, most probably.
[It had all become rather routine now. Not in a bad way, really. But, in the past weeks he had purchased himself some clothing to blend in better. He had established his comings and goings. And for now, he decided that it was pertinent to keep his head down. Gathering the Mistress' ire was certainly foolish.
Once his shift was over, he hurried to the dorms to change, and then try to catch Yenh at the end of her day. He was dressed unusually- Not in general, simply in relation to the ceremonial garb or the thong that he's been breaking in for a couple weeks. This was a fairly simple tunic, cut in panels and tailored handsomely around his torso. He wore leggings in a cream color with a pair of soft leather boots. He looked almost like a regular citizen, aside from being a full head taller than most of the men puttering in the village.
Nearly fifty paces away he catches sight of her silhouette and tell-tale red hair.]
Yenh!

Yenh!
what if instead of sex they just discuss tax policies for 200 comments
[Her eyes are bright and pleased as they make their way up to the top of him.]
There's a handsome- ly made outfit! Where are you going, ser?
that sounds perfect
Why, thank you. I find it a wonderful change from my usual uniform; I can jog with dignity. Anyroad, I have arrived. I thought I might catch you here. Would you care for a hand?
[Even as he asks, he reaches for the ceramic jug.]
...What is this substance?
no subject
Soup! One of the alchemist's clients sent me off with extra after I finished a delivery.
There's enough for two... presuming that you aren't terribly hungry. [She punctuates that with a playful smile.]
no subject
I had assumed it would be the liquid of a hundred pig bladders or some such. [Fool, he has no idea how much liquid is even in an organ like that.] Yet if you are asking me to sit with you for a meal, that would make me very happy.
no subject
Oh, no, no, no. If I had a jar of pig piss, you would have known and run the other way by now. [A beat passes before her body tenses up. Maybe it's too rude to use words like piss around him? It's not like he's never heard it before, or would wilt in outrage at a very mild rude word, but out of her mouth??? And in the same breath as a dinner date????? Yenh laughs a fluttery laugh of surprise with herself, whether or not Aymeric joins in.]
Sorry. Yes, I'm extending you an invitation, though I may have put off my own appetite.
no subject
After all you've been through, I would have figured your stomach would be stronger than that! I suppose you are still a lady at heart then?
no subject
Yes, of course. I faint at the sight of blood. Didn't you know?
But truly: it smells vile! I don't wish to associate my wonderfully free soup with that.
no subject
[He laughs into his knuckles]
Enough of that, either way. What sort of soup have you chanced upon?
no subject
[ The Warrior of Light has profound questions. ]
[ They are, at least, coming close to her cottage. Gods forbid this devolves into commentary and comparisons on specific vegetables. ]
no subject
[He glances up, eager for a new subject. The cottage was certainly different than it once was. With curiosity he keeps his eyes level on the door. It does indeed have the proper inscription on it.]
Tell me, could you even name all of your titles if you had to? It seems you gain new ones by the day... [His hand grazes the plaque.]
How have you been enjoying your new quarters?
no subject
I confess to... some guilt for having the luxury of four sturdy walls and a proper floor, when others still must live in shacks. Yet it is a welcome improvement, and not as though I could invite all of my fellow "outliers" to live in it.
no subject
And we are hardly in a position to change that, unfortunately. Perhaps someday.
[He pushes the door open, finally allowing them passage.]
no subject
[Yenh slips in, setting the jug on the table. The cottage is indeed modest, but a huge step up from the shack just in the fact that it has such luxuries as: a floor, a ceiling that doesn't leak, and walls that actually block out wind.]
[Not to mention that it's now divided up into two rooms, so she has an actual private sleeping space separate from where she can drop the nonsense she has scavenged from Apparently Everywhere, and entertain guests. Which is what she is trying to do now, by grabbing bowls and spoons out of the kitchenized area of said strewn nonsense.]
Please, do make yourself at home! I shall set the table.
no subject
He looks at all of her scavenged things with interest. What sort of this-and-that would catch the Warrior of Light's interest? ...He could not find a common thread. Was she just a manic collector? What an odd thing to know about her.]
Ah, thank you. This is much better than the shack. [He finds himself fiddling with his sleeve hems as he waits for her to set the table and serve him. He had not yet grown used to this kind of thing from her.]
Do you happen to have any tea?
no subject
[She pokes through the bundles and jars.]
Tea, tea... [She opens a jar and sniffs it. The aroma is almost definitely tea, rather than part of an unfinished errand for the potionmaker.] Ah! Yes. Here it is. I'll put the kettle on.
[She looks around.] I do have a kettle, don't I?
no subject
Well, have you ever made a pot of tea before? [He looks slightly concerned. Who loses an object like that, or isn't sure at all if she would have one?]
Yet it wouldn't be the first time I've boiled water in a tin cup, if that is what we must do.
[He wonders if he should ask if she has any sweeteners. She... She must, right? She huddles over pots and fires all day. And who wouldn't have a bit of sugar if they had tea?]
And a spot of syrup, perhaps? [He asks in a tone that implies that he will not be heartbroken is the answer is no]
no subject
I may have bartered it away. [At least he offered her a perfectly serviceable solution. Trying to seem like less of a terrible disaster of a person, she finds a tin cup and kneels down to light the stove.] As for the syrup, I do! I add it to my morning porridge.
[Yenh bites her lip as she finishes stoking the flames. It's a little embarrassing to admit, so she figures out how to cushion it.]
I don't drink much tea at all. But I remembered that you do, and so keeping a supply seemed like a proper gesture of friendship. [No, that's still just embarrassing and weird to say.]
no subject
Perhaps I should purchase a kettle for you... Oh- [As he seems to remember something] How embarrassing, with all the excitement, I've forgotten to bring you a house-warming gift. Pray allow me to do so next time you bring me over.
[He gives her a warm, heartened smile when she mentions that she keeps the tea around for him.] How incredibly thoughtful! Yenh... [He punctuates that with another fox-faced grin.]
no subject
[Maybe because he's Usually In Charge, so to speak? The dynamic is all wrong. ... Or maybe because she's bad at being anything but the Warrior of Light for Aymeric.]
I-I'll gladly accept the kettle! And I promise not to bargain it away!

'Twas a pair of chairs for Estinien's otherwise entirely-barren home. One time an invitation was sent by a messenger, and upon seeing the bereft house, he believed that Estinien had been robbed blind. 'Twas a very short investigation for the Temple Knights.
no subject
I'm unsurprised to learn that. He seems even less the sort to keep house than I am. [ Now for the hard part: adding leaves. How... how strong does he like his tea.. ]
[ Yenh decides to stop being stupid about this. She brings the jar and a cheesecloth baggie over to him, holding them out helplessly. ] How much shall I put in this?
no subject
[He takes a generous pinch, purposefully dropping a few leaves until it seems about right to him, then tucks the leaves into the little baggie. He makes a little sigh-laugh as he looks back up at her.]
You truly don't drink any tea... Yet you have so much energy! What is your secret, Yenh?
no subject
I've a natural surplus of stamina, that's all!
no subject
[As much as he only intended to keep that jest a light-hearted one between friends, he can feel the aura of stepping into something new. Something odd. He bites his lip.]
Mine apologies, that's... hardly appropriate.
no subject
[ After placing the tea in front of him, she pauses there. The idea of being forward, like she would with an equal, just seems so wrong here. He is the one with the weight of isolationism still only rolling off his nation's shoulders. So she gives him that weird uncertain look before sitting on the table beside him. The stiffness remains in her posture, but she pushes to at least sound more casual. ]
In part, aye. [ She crosses her legs at the ankle. Her stare is still fixed on him. ] But I'm also well-experienced. Whatever it took to win by being the best lover possible to complete strangers... I did it, gladly.
